15 Union Square West is how home to a very fancy yoga boutique. Your downward dog has never looked so good.

From The Villagher:

Union Square Park has new and improved free Wi-Fi. The service can accommodate up to 250 people simultaneously using wireless devices, from laptop computers to iPhones and other P.D.A.’s. Two Altai A8 antennas are situated on rooftops at the park’s north and south ends, providing coverage to users in the park, as well as the surrounding area There’s also a local community portal Web page with event listings and recommendations on places to dine and shop.

Muji, the terribly chic store for minimalist (and affordable) Japanese household accessories, stationery, and casual clothing, has arrived in the neighborhood on 19th St. just west of 5th. You’ll love it.

This rather fascinating report on pedestrian foot traffic in the area reveals that sidewalk crowds are up 53% in the past five years. If you’ve ever walked past Whole Foods at 6 PM, this will come as no surprise. In fact, Whole Foods is probably mainly responsible for the surge.

Curious about how the renovation of Union Square is proceeding? The Villager has all the details here. The bottom line: on schedule.
